Do you know how powerful it is to see ourselves in stories?

We know that stories can be powerful. One of the most powerful experiences in our journey of self-discovery is the power of seeing ourselves in another's story. That’s why we know it’s so important to get more LGBTQ stories, or Rainbow Stories as we like to call them, out into the world.

When we can identify with the person telling the story or the characters in the story, it validates our own identity. I am not alone. Who I am is accepted.

Seeing ourselves in stories:

Increases our self-confidence in who we are
Helps us explore our own identity more deeply
Creates empathy in us for others who may be different than us

Heather Hester and I are thrilled to invite you to participate in our Rainbow Stories Compilation Book. We want to lift up as many diverse voices as possible and bring your stories to the world as we celebrate the beauty and strength in a wide variety of identities.

Katherine Burrows is a lifelong writer and lover of stories, founder of Katherine Burrows Creative, and podcast host of The Write Connection.
